How RPLFC (Recognition of Prior Learning for Credit) Evaluations Work and Submitting Supporting Documents
What this article covers
This article explains how Recognition of Prior Learning for Credit (RPLFC) decisions are made, what evidence is accepted, and how to provide additional documents if you believe more credit should be awarded.
How RPLFC assessments work
RPLFC evaluates prior professional experience and learning against specific program learning outcomes and module requirements.
Not all experience or certifications will map to every module; assessors award credit only where evidence clearly demonstrates equivalent learning outcomes.
Assessors estimate learning hours that map to credits; the total recognized may be lower than expected if some experience doesn't align to compulsory module outcomes.
What evidence is accepted
Curriculum vitae (CV) outlining roles, responsibilities and dates.
Employment proof such as offer letters, contracts, or reference letters for each relevant role.
Certified copies of industry qualifications and certifications.
Online profiles (LinkedIn) can support applications but assessors usually require primary documents for verification.
How to submit additional documents
Upload your files directly via your student/dashboard RPLFC upload page. The system accepts multiple documents per application, however it is recommended to combine similar documents into the same file (e.g., Pay_Slips.pdf, All_Certifications.pdf, Reference_Letters.pdf).
If you cannot upload a file, email the documents to the support contact provided and request they be forwarded to the Academic Team for reassessment.
Label files clearly (e.g., “Employment_Offer_CompanyX.pdf”) and include brief notes describing which module outcomes the evidence relates to.
Tips to improve assessment outcomes
Provide detailed employment proof for each relevant role rather than a single position.
Attach copies of certifications rather than relying solely on links to external profiles; include certificate ID numbers if available.
Briefly explain how a role or certification maps to specific course/module learning outcomes.
If you disagree with the assessment
Request a reassessment and submit any additional evidence you have.
Keep correspondence and document versions, and ask for written confirmation of any changes to recognized credit hours.
Need more help?
Contact student support via your dashboard or the support email and include the documents you want considered. Ask them to forward the materials to the Academic Team for RPLFC review.
